The distanced approach
Dogs notice each other from across the street. The gap closes only when you see calm body language and your dog still responding to cues.
Step 2
The meet & greet
A structured hello — coordinated rear-end sniffing, the drive-thru sniff for two reactive dogs, then walking on together. Play stays off the table.
Step 3
The parallel walk
You do less and less: sniffing bouts, side-by-side walking, and 5–30 minutes of outdoor relaxation work, until the dogs simply coexist.
